Giancarlo Paoletti, PhD

AI Research Fellow @ Leonardo Labs

Hello world! I am an AI Research Fellow at Leonardo Labs based in Genova, Italy.
Before joining Leonardo Labs, I obtained my PhD in Computer Vision and worked as a Research Fellow at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) as part of the Pattern Analysis and Computer Vision (PAVIS) research line led by Dr. Alessio Del Bue.
Prior studies involved BS and MS degrees in Psychology at the University of Urbino (in 2016) and the University of Turin (in 2019).
I firmly believe in the intersection of Human and Artificial cognition, devoting my research to finding solutions for the benefit of humankind.
I am interested in analyzing human bodies and their behavior without supervision while keeping important and relevant aspects like privacy. That is why I am using 3D skeleton data as the main source of data for my research, which focuses on computer vision, specifically on unsupervised representation learning and classification, skeleton action recognition, subspace clustering, and more.
Currently, I am focusing on Large-Scale Computing, developing Deep Learning algorithms for HPC usage.
